A Note from Barry Murphy:

I would like to welcome you all to the famous Craic n´Ceól pub in Lanzarote.

"The Craic", as it is known locally, has been in existence since around 1995 now, and has a great reputation for live music. There are usually two musicians on the stage nightly, all of whom are fantastic entertainers. Fot those of you who have been frequenting The Craic for years (that sounds great!), you will all be familiar with names like Gallie, Colin Munday, Graham Mills and Rory Gallagher (previously with The Revs).

The bar has been in the very capable hands of Jerry Meredith until mid 2009, a great character himself, and we wish Jerry the best in the future. Previous to Jerry, Charlie Chapman was the man at the helm, and it was Charlie who opened the bar to begin with. Charlie is still performing and can be seen at the Brian Boru bar in the New Town every night. I hope that we can do the bar justice considering its fantastic history and the two great characters who were running this fine establishment before us.

We will have a lot of special guests rambling in and out of The Craic (that sounds great too!) performing from time to time, and you would never know who you might meet there on any night. There is always a great atmosphere in The Craic and you will find Paul from Cork, Brucey from Sligo and Pam from Dublin behind the counter, all of whom have experience (as patients!) in psychotherapy in the past!

There was a saying years ago that I think Charlie came up with, and it goes something like this:

TAKE A STROLL TO THE CRAIC N CEÓL, AND ON TO CHARLIES FOR YOUR....

Again, I would like to welcome all the existing and longstanding customers of The Craic and the many new customers we will meet along the way, and I hope you all enjoy your time with us while here on your holidays, and that we can contribute in some way to making sure that it will be a memorable one.
